We joined the army to help Thomas and Sarah. We don't know if the baby can be saved, he/she is half human half we don't know what. If they "created" the baby is for a reason, whatever it is, benefits them, if not they wouldn't "create" him/she. If the baby must survive we will save the baby. Meanwhile, we follow orders to help them, if the orders are not to help them, we won't follow the orders. If we have to mutiny, we will. The mission is to help Thomas and we will help him.

Yes. The mission of all soldiers is find the killers. The killers are not of our own. No soldier was ordered to have a special mission. The mission sent to all soldiers is to find the killers, find a reporter on the ship to have information (she has already been found but have tell nothing) and to reach 300 soldiers to monitor all 3 decks.
